School’s Out, But Reading Is Still In 📚🥭
School is officially out, and let me tell you, teachers everywhere are finally breathing again. We made it. 😅
Even though school is over, reading shouldn’t stop.
Reading matters at every age. We read to learn, to escape, to laugh, and sometimes just to survive a long day. Books help us understand ourselves and each other a little better. And yes, of course I would love for you to read one of my books, but honestly, I just hope you keep reading something.
This summer, share books with people. Pass a story to a friend. Start a little book club. Recommend a book that changed you. Stories are meant to travel.
I am also excited to say that I’m now selling book bundles directly from my website. It has been exciting, rewarding, and slightly chaotic. It turns out being an author also means being an accountant, secretary, marketer, shipping department, customer service representative, and professional tape finder. ‘Lawd, a tired’. 😂
Still, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
There is something special about packing books with my own hands and sending them out into the world, knowing they are about to become part of somebody else’s story.
And yes, it’s mango season. Oooooh, and the mangoes are sweet this year, sweet enough to make you stand over the sink eating one quietly so nobody asks you for a piece.
That sweetness reminds me of the love so many of you have shown Sweet Like Sugar Cane, which seems to be your favorite right now. I love seeing readers connect with these characters and this family.
If you’ve read any of my books, please tell your bookish friends and leave a review on Goodreads, Amazon, or wherever you read. Reviews truly matter for indie authors. They help new readers discover these stories, and yes, I absolutely blush when I read them. 😊
A new story is also on its way. Let’s be honest. As an author, a new story is always on its way. The characters never really leave me alone. They just wait for their turn.
So while summer settles in, while the mango juice runs down our wrists, and while we all try to slow down a little, I hope you make time for stories too.
📚 What is on your summer reading list this year? And what is one book you think everybody should read at least once?
With gratitude,
Leah T. Williams
