Not every character in a story is telling the truth. Not every narrator is reliable. Not every friend is loyal. Part of being a strong reader is learning to read between the lines — to notice what characters say versus what they do.

As you read today pay attention to trust. Who do you believe in this story? Who makes you a little uneasy? Has anyone surprised you yet?

Read 10–20 minutes. Pay attention to what characters say versus what they actually do.

Writing Prompt:
Write a paragraph about trust in your story. Who do you trust as a reader? Who don't you trust and why? Has any character surprised you by being different than you expected?
