Everything you feel when you read a book is a choice the author made. The words they picked. The pace of the sentences. What they showed you and what they left out. Authors are in complete control of your emotional experience as a reader — and the good ones make it feel effortless.
Today we start paying attention to the craft behind the feeling.
As you read notice when you feel something — excitement, sadness, tension, joy — and ask yourself what the author did to make you feel that way.
Reading Prompt:
Read 10–20 minutes. Every time you feel something pause for just a second and notice what the author just did on the page.
Writing Prompt:
Find one moment in your reading today that made you feel something strong. Write a paragraph describing the moment and what the author did to create that feeling. Was it the words they chose? The pace? What they didn't say?
