At the beginning of your book your main character was one version of themselves. By now — whether you have finished the book or not — they are different. Something has shifted. Something has been lost or gained or learned or broken.

That change is called a character arc and it is the heartbeat of almost every great story ever told.

Reading Prompt:
Read 10–20 minutes. Think about who your character was on page one compared to who they are right now.

Writing Prompt:
Write a paragraph describing how your main character has changed since the beginning of the book. What did they have to go through to get there? What do you think they understand now that they didn't understand before?
