You did it. One full week. 📚

Seven days ago you signed up for a challenge. Today you're on the other side of Week 1 and that is not a small thing. A lot of people start. Not everyone comes back seven days in a row.

Take a moment to recognize what just happened. Your child built a reading habit this week. That is worth celebrating.

This week we explored:

  • The setting — where and when the story lives

  • The characters — who we're following and why we care

  • The conflict — what's driving the story forward

  • The emotions — what the story is stirring up

  • The moments — what's making this book memorable

Today is about pulling it all together with a little more space to write. No right or wrong answers. Just honest reflection.

Today's Reading Prompt: Read for 10–20 minutes. You're a week in now — notice if reading feels any different than it did on Day 1. Easier? More natural? Are you looking forward to it or is it still a push? Both answers are valid and worth noticing.

Today's Writing Prompt: This week's journal page has three prompts. Take your time with each one. Write at least 2–3 sentences for each:

  1. Describe your book in three words. Then explain why you chose each word.

  2. Which character would you most want to meet in real life and what would you ask them?

  3. What do you think is going to happen next in your story and what makes you think that?

Tip for parents — do the journal prompts alongside your child using a book you're reading. It shows them that reflection is something readers of all ages do. It's not schoolwork. It's just thinking on paper.

Week 2 unlocks Wednesday. Keep reading. 📚 — Leah
