Plot is what happens. Theme is what it means.
A book about a boy going to live with his grandfather in the Caribbean is about identity and belonging. A book about three girls traveling through Black history is about legacy and pride. A book about a girl leaving her island for a new country is about roots and resilience.
Every story has a deeper meaning underneath the surface events. Today we start looking for yours.
Reading Prompt:
Read 10–20 minutes. Ask yourself — if someone asked me what this book was really about in one sentence, not the plot but the meaning, what would I say?
Writing Prompt:
Write a paragraph about the theme of your book. What bigger idea is the author exploring? Where in the story do you see that idea showing up most clearly?
